Collection: Ammonite Fossil

- flat back, cabochon

I have a few that have the VERY unique red flash! These are unique and rare because each one has a different pattern and combination of colors, and the red flash itself is a sign of a specific preservation process that is not found in all ammonites. The iridescent flash is caused by the preservation of original aragonite shell material, and the unique quality comes from the original patterns of the shell being preserved differently in each fossil. The brilliance, intensity, and type of flash (often described as fiery or opal-like) significantly affect value.

Ammonite fossils are the preserved remains of extinct marine mollusks that lived millions of years ago. Their spiral-shaped shells are packed with meaning across different spiritual and metaphysical traditions.

An ammonite fossil holds a dual meaning: the ancient, spiritual symbolism of the ammonite fossil itself, presented through the smooth, polished cabochon cut. The cabochon shape enhances the ammonite's natural spiral and can bring out vibrant, iridescent color known as ammolite, which adds to its meaning.
